BOARD CARE
Never leave your board to soak in water
We don't want to be overly dramatic here but this would be bad. Really bad.
Never put your board in the dishwasher
This is also really bad. if this is important for you, best buy a plastic one.
Our boards are not designed to hold hot pots and pans and should not be used for this purpose.
Concentrated high heat from pots, pans, burners, etc. will leave burn marks on your board and will scar it for life. How's that for drama?
If you want to store your board in a cupboard...
...make sure it's dry before putting it away
If your board starts to harbour food odours or stubborn stains, scrub with salt and lemon
Sprinkle coarse salt liberally over the board, then slice a lemon in half and use it to rub the salt into the board, squeezing juice onto the board as you go, and you’ll be left with a great smelling board. The salt also acts as an abrasive to lift stains out (like beet juice) and can also kill bacteria in the process. Use a clean cloth towel to remove excess liquid or let the board air dry by standing it upright. Papa Oki mineral oil also smells fantastic - check out the reviews!
Preparing your board for oiling
Follow these steps whenever you think your board needs some extra TLC. Use Papa Oki Ultimate
oil to nourish and preserve your cutting board. We do this every couple of weeks to keep our board
in tip top condition and looking great
Applying mineral oil
When it’s completely dry, generously cover every surface, nook and cranny with oil. It
will penetrate the wood and saturate the wood fibres, leaving no room for unwanted
moisture or smells
With the board well oiled, leave it for as long as you can, preferably overnight before
wiping off the excess oil with a dry cloth or paper towel
